A3. The design and construction of a prototype.

This activity includes the following sub-activities:

3.1. Sensor selection. Compatibility and sensitivity trials.

3.2. Testing and analysis of efficient energy power supplies.

3.3. Buoy selection. Adaptation of the system to accommodate the sensors and electronic
      components.

3.4. Selection of the communication system: range-interference-level response and energy
       use.

3.5. Troubleshooting: dead zones, measuring ranges, extreme conditions.

A4. The design of the software tool for integration in desalination plant management.

The tool designed will cover different integration levels:

4.1. Basic system. Storage and information.

4.2. Alert system. To alert when emergency threshold limits are exceeded.

4.3. Management system. Defines the plume spread of the dilution over time. Help system for
      decision-making. Integration in the management of the desalination plant. System
      validation and comparison to the CORMIX V 5.0 system.

A5. Validation and test case.

Testing of the system operation using an actual case study. The validation consists of two phases:

5.1. Validation and adjustment of the software tool; adjustment to the requirements of the
       case study.

5.2. Testing and validation of sensors.
